The Birth of Gaṇapati, the Emergence of the Vināyakas, and the Significance of the Fourth Lunar Day
bhavāṁś ca deveṣu tathā makheṣu kāryeṣu cānyeṣu mahānubhāvāt | agreṣu pūjāṁ labhate ’nyathā ca vināśayiṣyasy atha kāryasiddhim || 23.28 ||
Varāha
It reflects Purāṇic-era concerns with ritual order and the formal allocation of honor (pūjā) in sacrificial settings (makha), which parallels broader Dharmaśāstra discussions on precedence and the efficacy of rites.
No geographic location is explicitly named in this verse; the focus is on ritual and social-ethical protocol rather than sacred geography.
The verse emphasizes that proper recognition of precedence and due honor is linked to the successful completion (kāryasiddhi) of communal undertakings, especially rituals; neglect of proper protocol is framed as undermining success.
