Description of the Māhātmya of Gokarṇeśvara and Jaleśvara (Śaileśvara) in the Śleṣmātaka Forest
brahmahā guruhā goghnaḥ spṛṣṭo vai sarvapātakaiḥ || kṣetram etad anuprāpya nirmalo jāyate naraḥ ||
Varāha
It reflects a common Purāṇic motif: sacred geographies are framed as spaces of expiation, influencing pilgrimage as a social and ethical institution.
The “kṣetra” refers to Śaileśvara-kṣetra in the immediate chapter context.
The verse presents the idea that seeking purification and moral repair can be pursued through engagement with designated heritage-sacred spaces.
