The Curse of Sāmba and the Prescribed Observance of Sun-Worship
kṛṣṇaḥ śaśāpa sāṁbaṁ tu virūpatvaṁ bhaviṣyati || śāpayuktaḥ sa sāṁbas tu kuṣṭhayukto ’bhavat kṣaṇāt ||
Varāha (default narrative frame)
It preserves a common Purāṇic motif—royal/divine figures narrating moral causality through the immediate effect of a śāpa—useful for comparing ethical narrative structures across Purāṇas.
No explicit location is named in this verse; the emphasis is on the personal transformation of Sāmba due to the curse.
Actions and social transgressions are framed as having consequences; the narrative encodes accountability through the trope of immediate karmic fruition.
