The Curse of Sāmba and the Prescribed Observance of Sun-Worship
mathurāyāṃ tathā caikaṃ sthāpya sāmbo vasundhare || svanāmnā sthāpayāmāsa purāṇavidhinā svayam
Varāha (default narrative voice to Pṛthivī framework)
It connects Mathurā’s sacred landscape with a named patron figure and emphasizes procedural legitimacy (purāṇavidhi), typical of foundation legends.
Mathurā is explicitly named; it is widely identified with modern Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, India.
It underscores responsible patronage: founding institutions according to recognized norms rather than arbitrary action.
