The Manifestation and Sanctifying Power of the Mathurā Tīrtha
satāṃ puṇyagṛhe devi jāyate mānavo hi saḥ || dharaṇyuvāca || kṣetraṃ hi rakṣate deva kastvidaṃ pāpanāśanam ||
Pṛthivī (Dharaṇī)
It marks a dialogue shift where the Earth (Dharaṇī/Pṛthivī) explicitly questions the governance and protection of sacred space, a key Purāṇic concern tied to cultural heritage management.
The immediate passage concerns the Mathurā kṣetra, though this verse itself uses the general term kṣetra ('sacred region').
It highlights responsibility and stewardship: sacred places are not merely visited but are understood as protected domains, inviting reflection on guardianship and moral order.
