Expiatory Rites for Contact with a Corpse and with a Menstruating Woman
śrīvarāha uvāca || spṛṣṭvā rajasvalāṃ nārīṃ naro madbhaktitatparaḥ || tapaḥ kṛtvā trirātraṃ tu ākāśaśayane vaset ||
Varāha
It reflects Purāṇic adoption of Dharmaśāstra-like categories of purity/impurity and prescribes a short expiatory observance, illustrating how normative conduct was transmitted through narrative dialogue.
No specific geographic site is named in this verse; the instruction is framed as a general rule of conduct.
A regulated, time-bound expiation is recommended after a contact considered ritually impure, emphasizing self-discipline rather than punitive excess.
