Before the Vaikhānasa seer, the speech (vāṇī) of Viṣṇu arises. Having conceived it in the form of the threefold Veda (trayī), formerly, before the Vaikhānasa seer—hear from me in full what manner it arose at first. Its form, ever consisting of Brahman, is declared to be the power of action (kriyā-śakti). It is sung as the direct power (sākṣāt-śakti) of the Lord: having the nature of manifestation and appearance, of the form of mere remembrance; of the form of restraint and grace; accompanying the Lord; non-departing; continuously co-abiding; having the form of arisen and unarisen; and, by virtue of competence for all powers such as creation, maintenance, dissolution, concealment, and grace in the blinking and opening (of the eye), it is called the direct power.

Śakti (kriyā-śakti) as Brahman’s operative power; īśvara-śakti and manifestation (āvirbhāva)Mahavakya: Indirect: supports mahāvākya teaching by grounding śruti (trayī) in īśvara-śakti; no direct identification like ‘tat tvam asi’ statedAtharvaChandas: Prose mixed with śloka (post-Vedic, largely non-metrically strict)
