अवधूतस्त्वनियमः पतिताभिशस्तवर्जनपूर्वकं सर्ववर्णेष्वजगरवृत्त्याहारपरः स्वरूपानुसन्धानपरः । जगत्तावदिदं नाहं सवृक्षतृणपर्वतम् । यद्बाह्यं जडमत्यन्तं तत्स्यां कथमहं विभुः ॥ कालेनाल्पेन विलयी देहो नाहमचेतनः ॥२९-३०॥
अवधूतः तु । अनियमः । पतित-अभिशस्त-वर्जन-पूर्वकम् । सर्व-वर्णेषु । अजगर-वृत्त्या । आहार-परः । स्वरूप-अनुसन्धान-परः । जगत् तावत् इदम् । न । अहम् । स-वृक्ष-तृण-पर्वतम् । यत् बाह्यम् । जडम् । अत्यन्तम् । तत् स्याम् । कथम् । अहम् । विभुः । कालेन । अल्पेन । विलयी । देहः । न । अहम् । अचेतनः ॥२९-३०॥
avadhūtas tv aniyamaḥ patitābhiśasta-varjana-pūrvakaṃ sarvavarṇeṣv ajagara-vṛttyā āhāra-paraḥ svarūpānusandhāna-paraḥ | jagat tāvad idaṃ nāhaṃ sa-vṛkṣa-tṛṇa-parvatam | yad bāhyaṃ jaḍam atyantaṃ tat syāṃ katham ahaṃ vibhuḥ | kālenālpena vilayī deho nāham acetanaḥ ||29–30||
अवधूत के लिए कोई रूल नहीं होता। वो बड़े लोगों से दूर रहता है। वो सब जगह भीख माँगता है, पाइथन की तरह जो खाना मिल जाए खा लेता है। वो अपने आप को समझने में लगा रहता है। कहता है, यह दुनिया, पेड़, घास, पहाड़, मैं यह सब नहीं। जो बाहर है और जड़ है, मैं वो कैसे हो सकता? मैं तो हर जगह हूँ। बॉडी थोड़े टाइम में खत्म हो जाती है, मैं वो नहीं जो सोच नहीं सकता।
But the avadhūta is without fixed rules; avoiding (association with) the fallen and the censured, he is intent on sustenance by the ‘python-like’ mode among all social classes, and intent on inquiry into his own essential nature. This world indeed—together with trees, grass, and mountains—I am not. That which is external and utterly inert—how could I be that, (I who am) all-pervading? In a short time the body perishes; I am not the non-sentient.
