Sanyasa Upanishad 27: Verse 27
परमहंसः शिखायज्ञोपवीतरहितः पञ्चगृहेषु करपात्री एककौपीनधारी शाटीमेकामेकं वैणवं दण्डमेकशाटीधरो वा भस्मोद्धूलनपरः॥२७॥
परमहंसः । शिखा-यज्ञोपवीत-रहितः । पञ्च-गृहेषु । कर-पात्री । एक-कौपीन-धारी । शाटीम्-एकाम् । एकम् । वैणवम् । दण्डम् । एक-शाटी-धरः । वा । भस्म-उद्धूलन-परः ॥२७॥
paramahaṃsaḥ śikhā-yajñopavīta-rahitaḥ pañca-gṛheṣu kara-pātrī eka-kaupīna-dhārī śāṭīm ekām ekaṃ vaiṇavaṃ daṇḍam eka-śāṭī-dharo vā bhasmoddhūlana-paraḥ ||27||
परमहंस संन्यासी चोटी नहीं रखता और जनेऊ नहीं पहनता। वो पाँच घर से भीख माँगता है, हाथ में कोई बाउल नहीं। वो सिर्फ एक लंगोटी पहनता है, एक कपड़ा और एक बाँस की लाठी रखता है। या फिर सिर्फ एक कपड़ा पहनता है, या सिर्फ राख मल के रहता है।
The paramahaṃsa is without the topknot and the sacred thread; in five houses (he begs), using the hand as his bowl; wearing a single loincloth; (having) one cloth; one bamboo staff; wearing only one cloth, or being devoted to smearing himself with ash.
