By exhalation (recaka), the knower whose very nature is knowledge should contemplate, in the forehead-region, the three-eyed (principle), resembling pure crystal, partless, the destroyer of sin. (He should contemplate) a lotus-leaf with the flower turned downward, the stalk upward, facing downward; resembling a banana-blossom, Śiva who is constituted of all the Vedas; having a hundred spokes, endowed with a hundred petals, with a scattered lotus-pericarp. There, one should contemplate, one above another, the sun, the moon, and the fire. Having opened the lotus, (one should contemplate) the awakening (bodha-) moon, fire, and sun; drawing forth its heart-seed, one abides as the Self, steadfast.

Ātman–Brahman realization through inner visualization (dhyāna) and purification; nirvikala (partless) consciousnessMahavakya: Indirect support to Advaitic import of ‘ayam ātmā brahma’ (the Self as Brahman) by identifying the ‘three-eyed Śiva’ as the partless inner Self rather than an external deityAtharvaChandas: Mixed/irregular (later Upaniṣadic yogic verses; not strictly Vedic chandas)
