Indra
This hymn is an Indra-invocation centered on the Soma offering: the bright pressings are said to stream toward Indra, and he is urged to drink the prepared essence and enter the sacrificer’s works. Through praise (giraḥ, ukthāni) the poets “increase” Indra, asking to win his many powers—wealth, victory, and the force (vāja) that overcomes Vṛtra-like obstructions. A marked refrain-like emphasis on Indra’s “purity” (śuddha) presents him as the purified, clarifying might who grants treasures and destroys hindrances.

आ त्वा शुक्रा अचुच्यवुः सुतास इन्द्र गिर्वणः । पिबा त्वस्यान्धस इन्द्र विश्वासु ते हितम् ॥
इंद्र, यह चमकदार सोम प्याला तुम्हारे लिए तैयार है। तुम गाना सुन्ना पसंद करते हो। इस सोम को पियो। यह तुम्हारे लिए हर जगह रखा है। इससे रोशनी आएगी और सब ठीक होगा।

पिबा सोमं मदाय कमिन्द्र श्येनाभृतं सुतम् । त्वं हि शश्वतीनां पती राजा विशामसि ॥
इंद्र, सोम पियो खुशी के लिए। यह प्याला बाज़ पक्षी ने लाया है। तुम तो किंग हो, लोगों के राजा हो। तुम हमेशा से सरदार हो। तुम सब पर राज करते हो।

श्रुधी हवं तिरश्च्या इन्द्र यस्त्वा सपर्यति । सुवीर्यस्य गोमतो रायस्पूर्धि महाँ असि ॥
इन्द्र, सुन ले उसकी पुकार जो तुझे बुला रहा है, चाहे वो कहीं भी हो। वो तुझे पूजा रहा है। उसे धन दे, गायों वाला धन, और बहुत ताकत। तू तो बड़ा है इन्द्र, सबसे ऊपर वाला।

इन्द्र यस्ते नवीयसीं गिरं मन्द्रामजीजनत् । चिकित्विन्मनसं धियं प्रत्नामृतस्य पिप्युषीम् ॥
इन्द्र, जो इंसान तेरे लिए नया गाना गाता है, वो तुझे खुश करता है। वो अपने मन से सोचता है, समझ के बात करता है। यह पुरानी सीख है, सच्चाई की बात, जो मन में भर के आती है।

तमु ष्टवाम यं गिर इन्द्रमुक्थानि वावृधुः । पुरूण्यस्य पौंस्या सिषासन्तो वनामहे ॥
हम इन्द्र की तारीफ करते हैं, जिसको सब लोग गाके बढ़ा रहे हैं। उसकी बहुत ताकत है, बहुत शक्तियाँ हैं। हम भी वो शक्तियाँ पाना चाहते हैं, जीत के अपनी बनाना चाहते हैं।

एतो न्विन्द्रं स्तवाम शुद्धं शुद्धेन साम्ना । शुद्धैरुक्थैर्वावृध्वांसं शुद्ध आशीर्वान्ममत्तु ॥
चलो, इन्द्र की तारीफ करते हैं, साफ मन से, साफ गाना गाके। साफ बातें बोलके उसको बढ़ाते हैं। वो साफ शक्ति हमारे पास आए, हमारे मन में खुशी भर दे।

इन्द्र शुद्धो न आ गहि शुद्धः शुद्धाभिरूतिभिः । शुद्धो रयिं नि धारय शुद्धो ममद्धि सोम्यः ॥
इन्द्र, तू साफ है, हमारे पास आ। साफ मदद लेके आ। साफ रहके हमारे पास धन रख, संपत्ति दे। साफ हो के हमें खुश कर, सोम जैसा आनंद दे। यह हमारी ज़िन्दगी को सही कर दे।

इन्द्र शुद्धो हि नो रयिं शुद्धो रत्नानि दाशुषे । शुद्धो वृत्राणि जिघ्नसे शुद्धो वाजं सिषाससि ॥
इन्द्र, तुम बिल्कुल साफ हो। तुम हमारे लिए पूरा खज़ाना हो। जो लोग देते हैं, उनको तुम रत्न देते हो। तुम दुश्मनों को मार डालते हो, तुम बिल्कुल साफ हो। तुम हमारे अंदर ताकत जागा देते हो, जीत की ताकत।
