Sukta 1.67
चित्तिरपां दमे विश्वायुः सद्मेव धीराः सम्माय चक्रुः ॥
cíttir apā́ṃ dáme viśvā́yuḥ sádmeva dhī́rāḥ sammā́ya cakruḥ ॥
Supports the synthesis of Agni and Āpas motifs in ritual: establishing the fire within/with the waters (purification, inspiration); applicable to consecratory and harmonizing moments of the rite
citti (awakening of consciousness), māyā as formative measure, stable seat (sadman) of realization
The wise build harmonious formation (māyā) in alignment with Ṛta within the waters of life.
Citti as a satya-discerning power—seeing what is true in the flow of life.
World-building from waters through conscious measure (māyā) and discernment (citti).
Vedantic-yogic: māyā as formative power; citti as consciousness principle shaping life.
Waters = emotional-vital flow; house = stable inner poise; building = integration of energies into a harmonious personality; citti = awakened intelligence in life.
Rest awareness in the ‘waters’ of feeling without turbulence; invite a clear citti to arise and ‘build’ a harmonious intention for the day.
Svādhiṣṭhāna (waters) with support from Anāhata (stable dwelling)
Cooling, smoothing breath (śītali/śītkārī if appropriate) or simple lengthened exhale to calm the waters; then soft heart-breath.
Clear, receptive flow with stable witnessing.
Observe emotional currents; do not dam them—clarify them. Chant and feel a quiet flame of discernment organizing the flow into constructive patterns (māyā as harmony).
Tri-svara (udātta/anudātta/svarita) per Rigvedic tradition; confirm with a svara-marked Saṃhitā.
Give weight to ‘cittiḥ’ and ‘apāṃ’; keep ‘sadmeva’ flowing as a single unit; maintain steady Triṣṭubh pace.
cittiḥ: double ‘t’ crisp; final visarga ḥ light, apām: long ā; nasal m, viśvāyuḥ: śv cluster clear; long ā; final ḥ, sammāya: double m; long ā, cakruḥ: retroflex ṛ; final ḥ
Cool, even, resonant; slightly softer than obstacle-breaking verses.
