Indra
Triṣṭubh (RV 1.11 is predominantly Triṣṭubh)
RV 1.11 is a compact Triṣṭubh hymn that magnifies Indra through praise, recalling his decisive heroic deeds—especially the opening of Vala’s cave and the release of the luminous “cows” (rays/wealth). It seeks Indra’s victorious power, protection, and abundant gifts, affirming that his generosity exceeds all count when invoked by true-minded worshippers.

Mantra 1
इन्द्रं विश्वा अवीवृधन्त्समुद्रव्यचसं गिरः । रथीतमं रथीनां वाजानां सत्पतिं पतिम् ॥
सब लोग इंद्र की तारीफ करते हैं। वो समुंदर जैसा विशाल है। रथ चलाने वाले में सबसे बड़ा है। ताकत का मालिक है और सच्चे लोगों का लीडर है।

सख्ये त इन्द्र वाजिनो मा भेम शवसस्पते । त्वामभि प्र णोनुमो जेतारमपराजितम् ॥
इंद्र, तुम्हारे साथ रह के हम डर नहीं लगाते। तुम ताकत का मालिक हो। हम तुम्हारी तरफ बढ़ते हैं। तुम वो हो जो हारा नहीं जाता, बस जीता है।

पूर्वीरिन्द्रस्य रातयो न वि दस्यन्त्यूतयः । यदी वाजस्य गोमतः स्तोतृभ्यो मंहते मघम् ॥
इंद्र के पुराने तोहफे और मदद कभी खत्म नहीं होती। जब वो गाने वाले लोगों को कुछ देता है, वो बड़ी ताकत और ज्ञान होता है।

पुरां भिन्दुर्युवा कविरमितौजा अजायत । इन्द्रो विश्वस्य कर्मणो धर्ता वज्री पुरुष्टुतः ॥
एक नया रिशि पैदा हुआ जो बहुत ताकतवाला था। यह किले तोड़ने वाला था और जवान था। उसका नाम इंद्र था। इंद्र सब काम संभालता है, वज्र उसके हाथ में है, और लोग उसकी बहुत तारीफ करते हैं।

त्वं वलस्य गोमतोऽपावरद्रिवो बिलम् । त्वां देवा अबिभ्युषस्तुज्यमानास आविषुः ॥
इंद्र ने वल की गुफा खोली थी जहाँ बहुत रोशनी थी। देवता लोग डर के मारे थे और मुसीबत में थे। उन्होंने इंद्र को आगे लाया ताकि वो दिख जाए।

तवाहं शूर रातिभिः प्रत्यायं सिन्धुमावदन् । उपातिष्ठन्त गिर्वणो विदुष्टे तस्य कारवः ॥
इंद्र के तोहफे से मैं वापस नदी के पास आया। मैंने सबको बताया कि नदी कैसी है। गाने वाले लोग इंद्र के पास खड़े थे क्योंकि वो जानते थे कि उसमें ताकत है।

मायाभिरिन्द्र मायिनं त्वं शुष्णमवातिरः । विदुष्टे तस्य मेधिरास्तेषां श्रवांस्युत्तिर ॥
इंद्र ने अपनी चालाकी से शुष्ण जादूगर को गिराया। समझदार लोग जानते हैं कि यह काम उसने किया। अब उनकी बड़ाई हो और लोग उनकी बात सुन्ने।

इन्द्रमीशानमोजसाभि स्तोमा अनूषत । सहस्रं यस्य रातय उत वा सन्ति भूयसीः ॥
लोग इंद्र के लिए गाने गाते हैं क्योंकि वो सबका मालिक है और ताकतवाला है। उसके पास हज़ारों तोहफे हैं, और उससे भी ज़्यादा। उसकी करम इतनी है कि गिनती में नहीं आती।
