These two princes blameless, disciplined and well-versed, committed to memory the whole epic and chanted as instructed in the assembly of rishis, brahmins and saints.
The verse exemplifies the sacred duty of preserving and transmitting knowledge through the guru-shishya tradition. Kusa and Lava demonstrate adherence to Dharma by faithfully memorizing and reciting the epic exactly as instructed by their teacher Valmiki, showing respect for lineage and knowledge preservation.
The twin princes Kusa and Lava, who were initiated into the Ramayana by Valmiki, are performing their first public recitation before an assembly of respected sages, brahmins, and virtuous beings, demonstrating their mastery of the epic.
The virtue of discipline (susamāhitau - deep concentration) and obedience to the teacher's instruction (yathopadeśam) is emphasized. The princes are described as 'aninditau' (blameless), indicating their pure character and dedication to their sacred duty.
