सिद्धाश्रम-प्रसङ्गः
Siddhashrama and the Vāmana Narrative
एष पूर्वाश्रमो राम वामनस्य महात्मनः ॥३॥
सिद्धाश्रम इति ख्यातस्सिद्धो ह्यत्र महातपाः ।
eṣa pūrvāśramo rāma vāmanasya mahātmanaḥ ||3||
siddhāśrama iti khyātassiddho hyatra mahātapāḥ |
राम, यह आश्रम वामन का था। वामन भगवान का रूप था। इसलिए इसका नाम सिद्धाश्रम पड़ा। क्योंकि यहाँ किसी बड़े तपस्वी ने तपस्या की थी और सिद्धि पा ली थी।
"O Rama! this was the hermitage of glorious Vamana. The great sage her performed his ascetic pratices here, hence it is known as siddhashrama.
The verse illustrates the Dharma of preserving and transmitting sacred history. Viswamitra explains the significance of Siddhashrama, teaching Rama about the sacred heritage of the land where divine incarnations performed their austerities.
Responding to Rama's curiosity about the beautiful hermitage, sage Viswamitra reveals that this was the hermitage of Lord Vamana (the dwarf incarnation of Vishnu), where great austerities were performed, hence its name Siddhashrama.
The virtue of sacred memory and reverence for divine history is emphasized. Viswamitra, as a guru, preserves and transmits the knowledge of sacred spaces, teaching Rama to recognize and honor the spiritual heritage embedded in the landscape.
