Sukta 7
मधु॑मन्मू॑लं म॑धुमद॑ग्रमासाम्म॑धुमन्म॑ध्यं वीरु॑धां बभूव । मधु॑मत् प॒र्णं मधु॑म॒त् पुष्प॑मासां॒ मधोः॒ संभक्ता अ॒मृत॑स्य भ॒क्षो घृ॒तमन्नं॑ दुह्रतां॒ गोपु॑रोगवम्
mádhumat mū́laṃ mádhumad ágram āsām mádhumad mádhyaṃ vīrudhā́ṃ babhūva | mádhumat párṇaṃ mádhumat púṣpam āsāṃ mádhoḥ sámbhaktā amṛ́tasya bhákṣo ghṛtám ánnaṃ duhratāṃ gopúro gávam
Honeyed their root, honeyed their summit; honeyed the midmost of the plants hath grown. Honeyed their leaf, honeyed their blossom; sharers in sweetness, food of immortality—let them yield ghee and nourishment, cow-leading, for the cattle-wealth.
इन पौधों की जड़ में मीठा है, ऊपर भी मीठा है, बीच में भी मीठा है। उनके पत्ते भी मीठी हैं, फूल भी मीठी हैं। यह अमृत जैसा खाना देती हैं। घी और खाना निकालती हैं, गायें आगे बढ़ाती हैं, और जानवरों के लिए पैसा देती हैं।
