Mantra 1
कालः। का॒लादापः॒ सम॑भवन् का॒लाद् ब्रह्म॒ तपो॒ दिशः॑ । का॒लेनोदे॑ति॒ सूर्यः॑ का॒ले नि वि॑शते॒ पुनः॑
यह बात समय के बारे में है। समय से पानी आया। समय से ब्रह्मा और तपस्या और चारों दिशाएँ निकली। समय ही सूरज को उठाता है, समय ही उसको डुबा देता है।

का॒लेन॒ वातः॑ पवते का॒लेन॑ पृथि॒वी म॒ही। द्यौर्म॒ही का॒ल आहि॑ता
वक्त की वजह से हवा चलती है। वक्त की वजह से यह धरती बड़ी और मज़बूत खड़ी है। आसमान भी वक्त में ही जम गया है। यह सब वक्त के हाथ में चलता है।

का॒लो ह॑ भू॒तं भव्यं॑ च पु॒त्रो अ॑जनयत् पु॒रा। का॒लादृचः॒ सम॑भव॒न् यजुः॑ का॒लाद॑जायत
काल, यानी टाइम, एक बेटा की तरह है। इसने पहले जो हुआ और जो होने वाला है, सब पैदा किया। काल से ऋच के मंत्र निकले, और काल से यजु भी पैदा हुआ।

का॒लो य॒ज्ञं समै॑रयद् दे॒वेभ्यो॑ भा॒गमक्षि॑तम्। का॒ले ग॑न्धर्वाप्स॒रसः॑ का॒ले लो॒काः प्रति॑ष्ठिताः
काल ने यज्ञ को सही तरीके से शुरू किया, भगवान के लिए हिस्सा रख के। गंधर्व और अप्सरा सब काल में खड़े हैं। सारी दुनिया काल में पक्की है।

का॒लेऽयमङ्गि॑रा दे॒वोऽथ॑र्वा॒ चाधि॑ तिष्ठतः । इ॒मं च॑ लो॒कं प॑र॒मं च॑ लो॒कं पुण्यां॑श्च लो॒कान् विधृ॑तीश्च॒ पुण्याः॑ । सर्वां॑ल्लो॒कान॑भि॒जित्य॒ ब्रह्म॑णा का॒लः स ई॑यते पर॒मो नु दे॒वः
काल में अंगिरस और अथर्व भगवान बैठे हैं। यह दुनिया और ऊपर वाली दुनिया, सब पवित्र जगह, सब काल में है। सब दुनिया को जीत के, ब्रह्मा की शक्ति से, काल आगे बढ़ता है। वो सबसे बड़ा भगवान है।
