Sukta 9.114
Kāśyapa is explicitly invoked in v.2; the hymn is traditionally connected with Kāśyapa-line seers in Anukramaṇī notices.
Soma Pavamāna (primary); Indra as recipient in refrain.
Jagatī (common in RV 9.114).
Is mantra mein Soma ki tareef hai jab wo saaf hota hai aur aage badhta hai.
Jo insaan Soma ke saath chalta hai jab woh saaf ho raha hai, usko log acche bacchon wala kehte hain. Usne Soma ke liye sahi raasta dhund liya. Hey Indra ka Soma, hamare paas aa kar bah.
Mantra 2
Rishi Kashyap Soma ke liye gaana gaate hain aur uski mahima badhate hain. Soma ek raja hai aur ped-paudhon ka maalik hai. Hey Indra ka Soma, hamare paas aa kar bah.
Mantra 3
Saat dishayein hain aur unmein bahut saare sooraj hain. Saat pandit hain jo puja karte hain. Saat Aditya devta hain. Soma, in sabse hamein bacha. Hey Indra ka Soma, hamare paas aa kar bah.
Mantra 4
Hey raja Soma, tumhari puja se hamein bacha. Koi bura insaan hamare paas na aaye. Koi bhi cheez ham par haavi na ho. Hey Indra ka Soma, hamare paas aa kar bah.
It asks the purified Soma to flow toward Indra and, through the power of the correctly prepared offering, to protect the worshippers, strengthen right intention, and bring well-being.
The “seven” imagery expresses total, all-sided protection and completeness—cosmically (directions), ritually (priests), and divinely (Ādityas)—so the sacrificer is guarded on every side.
It means “flow around and toward us/into us” in the ritual sense: Soma’s clarified stream is urged to circulate, consecrate, and then be directed to Indra as the empowering recipient.
