Rishi: Traditionally Atharvanic/Angiras lineage (AV 20 often reuses RV material; attribution follows the borrowed RV hymn’s ascription in many recensions).
Devata: Várchas (Splendour) / the praised subject as bearer of radiance; implicitly Agni/Soma-style consecratory power via speech.
Chandas: Triṣṭubh/Jagatī-type cadence typical of RV-derived material (exact metrical identification depends on pada-count in the source RV verse).
Is mantra mein kisi ko varchas milta hai - yeh chamak aur logon mein naamon hai. Gai aur bachde jaisa poshan diya jata hai, taaki shakti badhti rahe.
Yeh shabd tumhare upar chamak daalte hain. Jaise gaay apne bacche ko doodh pilati hai, waise hi yeh shabd tumhe taakat dete hain. Yeh sab kuchh tej hai aur chamakdaar hai.
Mantra 2
Yeh chamakdaar shabd bahar aate hain. Woh pyare insaan ko chamak ke saath jodte hain. Jaise maa apne naye bacche ko dil se pyaar karti hai, waise hi yeh shabd us insaan ko apna bana lete hain.
Mantra 3
Naam kamaana aasan nahi hai, lekin jab main mar raha tha, mera naam mujhe bachane aaya. Usne mujhe nayi zindagi di. Ghee aur doodh bhi mila. Yeh sab usne la kar diya.
Mantra 4
Yeh chitri gaay aage badh gayi hai. Pehle woh apni maa ke paas baithi thi. Ab woh aage badh kar apne baap ke paas pahunch gayi hai. Baap aasman mein rehte hain.
Mantra 5
Bhagwan ke andar ek chamakta hua duniya chalti hai. Woh saans lene aur chhodne se banti hai. Mahan wali ne aasman ko dikhla diya hai.
Mantra 6
Bol mein tees jagah hain aur woh chamak rahi hai. Bol udne wali hai aur baith gayi hai. Subah ke saamne, din ke saamne, chamakte dinon ke saath yeh kaam karti hai.
Várchas is radiant splendour—charisma, prestige, vitality, and the kind of visible excellence that brings recognition and authority. The hymn treats it as something that can be conferred and stabilized through mantra (Vāc).
The image says the uttered mantras nourish and empower the recipient the way milch-cows feed a calf—abundantly, protectively, and in a way that makes growth visible. It also links prosperity (cows) with consecration (sprinkling).
It can be recited at dawn or before an important public or professional moment to cultivate confident, auspicious presence. Some traditions add a simple water (or water-and-milk) sprinkling to embody the hymn’s ‘anointing by speech,’ but clear recitation and intention are central.
