Rishi: RV-derived; traditionally Vasiṣṭha-associated in AV 20 context
Devata: Indra (contextual)
Chandas: Gāyatrī/Anuṣṭubh-like short meter (RV-style; exact pada-count suggests a gāyatrī-type cadence)
Is sukta mein Indra ko bulaya gaya hai. Use Maghavan bhi kehte hain kyunki woh khush hokar deta hai. Woh bahut taqatwar hai aur kisi se bhi nahi haarta. Log use isliye pukarte hain taaki woh unki ladai mein madad kare. Indra pehle bhi logon ko bohot kuch diya karta tha. Ab bhi woh apni taqat aur dhan se sabki raksha karta hai. Is mantra se logon ko vijay milti hai aur gai-ghode milte hain.
Hum tumhe bulaate hain. Tum jaise koi nahi, tum bahut taakatwale ho. Koi tumse bada nahi hai. Jeet ke liye tumhe bulaate hain. Samarthan chahiye, isliye puja kar rahe hain.
Mantra 2
Yeh mantra Indra ko bulata hai. Log yagya mein madad ke liye unki taraf jaate hain. Indra young hai, tez hai, dar nahi jaanta. Woh rakshak hai, isliye log use apna saathi maan ke chunte hain. Indra jeeta hai aur accha phal deta hai.
Mantra 3
Pehle bhi ek aadmi tha jo humein acchi cheezein laakar deta tha. Main us aadmi ki tareef karta hoon. Dosto, woh Indra hai. Woh humare kaam aata hai jab humein madad chahiye.
Mantra 4
Indra ke ghode bade achhe rang ke hain. Woh logon par bada karke chalta hai. Jab woh khush hota hai, toh woh bahut accha mehsoos karta hai. Ab woh humein deta hai gaay aur ghode. Woh gaana gaane wale logon ko bahut deta hai, sau guna zyada.
It is mainly a prosperity-and-victory hymn: it calls Indra to grant vāja (success/prize/strength), protect the group, and bestow cattle and horses in abundance.
To build ritual certainty: if Indra repeatedly gave boons in the past, the same Indra can be relied upon now when praised and invoked for succour (ūti).
No special herbs or amulets are required. A simple offering (like ghee or a food token) is optional; the hymn itself treats sincere praise and invocation as the key ‘offering’.
