Rishi: Atharvanic tradition (attribution varies by anukramaṇī; commonly classed under Atharvan/Āṅgirasa protective charms)
Devata: Dyāvāpr̥thivī and Antárikṣa (cosmic regions) with Vāta as guardian; also the personified Kṣetrasya Patnī (Field’s Lady)
Chandas: Tr̥ṣṭubh-like cadence (mixed/irregular in Atharvanic transmission; requires metrical verification against pada counts)
Is mantra mein jo karta hai woh apna ilaka aasman aur dharti ke beech fix karta hai. Dushman ki buri nazar wapas usi par padti hai. Jo shakti hamare upar bheji gayi thi woh ab us sender ko jala deti hai. Indra us dimaag kharab karne wale ko gira dete hain. Phir Agni Jatavedas aake hamara pair, saans aur bolne ki shakti wapas theek karte hain. Yeh ek tarah ka protection mantra hai jo hamare ilake ko surakshit rakhta hai.
Mantra 1
Aasmaan aur dharti, aur beech ka space, yeh sab bade taakatwar hain. Hawa bhi yehi hai, jo sab sambhaal ke rakhta hai. Jab mujhpar koi hamla kare, toh yeh sab taakatein usse jala den.
Mantra 2
Hey devata, suno, Bharadwaj mera liye bhajan ga raha hai. Jo hamare dimaag ko bigaadna chahta hai, usse pakad ke rassi se baandh do. Use buri tarah phans jaane do.
Mantra 3
Indra, tu Som peeta hai, meri baat sun. Main dil se tujhe pukar raha hoon, kyunki mujhe bada dukh hai. Main us aadmi ko tod ke rakh dunga, jaise bijli pedh ko tod deti hai. Jo hamare dimaag ko pareshan kar raha hai, usse main khatam kar dunga.
Mantra 4
Athasi rishi, teen rishi, aur jo gaana gaate hain, sab ki shakti se hum safe hon. Aditya, Vasu, Angirase, in sab ki dua humare saath ho. Jo bhi humne puja kiya aur daan diya, uska phal humein bachaaye.
Aakash aur dharti, tum dono mujhpar apni roshni dalo. Saare bhagwan, tum bhi mujhe pakad lo. Angirase rishi aur purvaj, jo Som se judte hain, woh sab bhi saath hon. Buraai mujhse door ho jaaye. Jo bhi mujhe nuksan pahunchaane ki soch raha hai, uski saari harkat uspe hi waapis jaaye.
Mantra 6
Marut bhagwan, jo bhi hamare baare mein buri baat sochta hai, ya jo hamari puja ke dauran gaali deta hai, uske liye badi musibat honi chahiye. Aag uspe gire, bura waqt aaye.
Tu gussa hai, lekin main tere saat saans aur aath taakat tod dunga, brahman ki shakti se. Ab yeh raasta seedha Yamraj ke paas jaata hai. Agni bhagwan pehle jaake sab theek kar dega.
Mantra 8
Main Agni ke liye jagah bana raha hoon, aag theek se jal rahi hai. Agni shareer ko apne paas rakhe. Saans wapas aaye, bolne ki taakat bhi wapas aaye.
It is used to counter hostile magic or affliction, protect the practitioner’s territory (kṣetra), and—by the end—restore strength, breath, and speech to someone in danger of collapse.
Because the hymn treats them as a vast protective enclosure: by placing the person inside that cosmic ‘fence,’ hostile forces are constrained and pushed back toward their source.
Indra is invoked to strike down the mind-harming attacker (a decisive counter-blow), while Agni Jātavedas is invoked to stabilize and revive the victim by ‘wrapping’ the body and calling back breath (asu) and speech (vāk).
