संसदि व्रीडयाऽश्रुत्य आर्थिभ्यः प्रददाति च । प्रतिदीयते च यद्दानं व्रीडादानमिति श्रुतम्
saṃsadi vrīḍayā'śrutya ārthibhyaḥ pradadāti ca | pratidīyate ca yaddānaṃ vrīḍādānamiti śrutam
सभा में लज्जा से, निंदा के भय से, याचकों को जो दान दिया जाता है और बदले में जो प्रतिदान भी लिया- दिया जाता है—वह ‘व्रीडादान’ कहलाता है।
