Vision of the Gaṅgā and Meeting with Guha
अनुक्रोशो दया चैव यथार्हं मयि वः कृतः।चिरं दुःखस्य पापीयो गम्यतामर्थसिद्धये।।2.50.5।।
anukrośo dayā caiva yathārhaṃ mayi vaḥ kṛtaḥ |
ciraṃ duḥkhasya pāpīyo gamyatām arthasiddhaye || 2.50.5 ||
आप लोगों ने मेरे प्रति यथोचित करुणा और दया की है। दुःख को बहुत देर तक बढ़ाना निंदनीय है; अब अपने कार्य-सिद्धि के लिए जाइए।
As the wise, illustrious, magnanimous son of Dasaratha (Rama) who was used to pleasures and not discomfort lay on the ground, the long night slipped away.ityārṣē śrīmadrāmāyaṇē vālmīkīya ādikāvyē ayōdhyākāṇḍē pañcāśassargaḥ৷৷Thus ends the fiftieth sarga of Ayodhyakanda of the holy Ramayana, the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
Dharma requires steadiness of mind: compassion is acknowledged, but one should not indulge grief; one must return to rightful responsibilities.
As people grieve around him, Rama urges them to stop lingering in sorrow and to go back to complete their obligations.
