शत्रुनाशनम्। अयमग्निः सत्पतिर्वृद्धवृष्णो रथीव पत्तीनजयत् पुरोहितः । नाभा पृथिव्यां निहितो दविद्युतदधस्पदं कृणुतां ये पृतन्यवः

IAST Transliteration

ayám agníḥ sátpatiḥ vṛddhávṛṣṇo rathī́va pattī́n ajayat puróhitaḥ | nā́bhā pṛthivyā́ṁ nihitó davídyutat adhaḥpadáṁ kṛṇutā́ṁ yé pṛtanyávaḥ

English Translation (Griffith/Whitney)

This Agni, lord of the good, strong as a full-grown bull, as a chariot-warrior hath conquered the footmen, set in front as Purohita. Planted at earth’s navel he hath flashed abroad: let the battle-mongers make their station underfoot.

Translation

शत्रुनाशनम्। यह अग्नि सत्पति है—वृद्ध वृषभ के समान बलवान; रथी-योद्धा की भाँति उसने पैदल शत्रुओं को जीत लिया है, पुरोहित होकर अग्रभाग में स्थापित। पृथ्वी की नाभि में स्थापित होकर वह दूर-दूर तक चमका है; जो युद्ध के अभिलाषी हैं, वे उसके अधःपद (पाँव तले/आश्रय) में अपना स्थान करें।
