raviruvāca | mayi dṛṣṭe sadā yasmātkuruṣe netrasaṃkṣayam | tasmājjaniṣyase mūḍhe prajāsaṃyamanaṃ yamam
Ravi/Arka (Sūrya)
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: Saṃjñā
Scene: Sūrya, blazing and stern, speaks a fateful curse to Saṃjñā. Saṃjñā stands trembling, eyes lowered, the air charged with solar heat; the word ‘Yama’ hangs like a decree of cosmic law.
Actions and dispositions lead to consequential outcomes; the Purāṇic curse motif teaches moral causality and the rise of cosmic governance (Yama).
Indirectly Prabhāsa-kṣetra, since the māhātmya places such cosmic origins within the sanctified narrative space of Prabhāsa.
None; it is a pronouncement (śāpa) explaining Yama’s birth.
