Without clouds, terrific thunderbolts of Indra (rain) dropped on his (Ravana's) army all over causing unbearable sound.
Cosmic justice is portrayed as inescapable: even without ordinary causes (clouds), the moral universe can manifest consequences for adharma.
Extraordinary lightning-like strikes and dreadful sounds assault the battlefield, targeting the opposing forces (contextually, Rāvaṇa’s side).
Trust in righteous order (dharma-niyati) is implied—Rāma’s cause is supported by a larger moral-cosmic alignment.
