Trijata’s Dream-Omens and the Rakshasis’ Reversal
करेणुहस्तप्रतिम स्सव्यश्चोरुरनुत्तमः।।5.27.50।।वेपमानः सूचयति राघवं पुरतः स्थितम्।
kareṇu-hasta-pratimaḥ savyaś corur anuttamaḥ | vepamānaḥ sūcayati rāghavaṁ purataḥ sthitam || 5.27.50 ||
હાથીણીના સૂંડ સમાન ઉત્તમ ડાબી જાંઘ કંપતી હતી, જાણે આગળ ઊભેલા રાઘવને સૂચવે છે.
"Her excellent left thigh, comparable to a female elephant's trunk is trembling, as though indicating that Rama is standing in her presence.
Even in extreme distress, dharma is sustained through hope grounded in truth: the verse frames bodily omens as signs that righteous help (Rāma) is near, reinforcing steadfastness rather than despair.
In Aśoka-vana, auspicious signs are being observed around Sītā, suggesting an imminent turning-point—Rāma’s approach and the beginning of deliverance.
Sītā’s endurance (kṣamā) and unwavering fidelity (pativratā-dharma) are implied: the omen supports her continuing resolve to hold to truth and righteousness.
