ईश्वरो विक्रमी धन्वी मेधावी विक्रम: क्रम: । अनुत्तमो दुराधर्ष: कृतज्ञ: कृतिरात्मवान्
īśvaro vikramī dhanvī medhāvī vikramaḥ kramaḥ | anuttamo durādharṣaḥ kṛtajñaḥ kṛtir ātmavān ||
ભીષ્મ બોલ્યા—તે ઈશ્વર છે, સર્વશક્તિમાન; વિક્રમિ, શૂરવીર; ધન્વી, ધનુષધારી; મેધાવી, અતિ બુદ્ધિમાન; વિક્રમ અને ક્રમ—પરાક્રમ તથા હેતુપૂર્ણ ગતિનું સ્વરૂપ। તે અનુત્તમ, સર્વોત્કૃષ્ટ; દુરાધર્ષ, અજય; કૃતજ્ઞ, અલ્પ અર્પણને પણ મહાન ગણનાર; કૃતિ, સર્વ પુરુષાર્થનો આધાર; અને આત્મવાન—પોતાની મહિમામાં સ્થિત, સ્વાધીન।
