FAQs

Ayurvedic dietetic guidance (pathya): specific foods—barley preparations, dried radish, and vegetables like paṭola and vetrāgra—are recommended as therapeutic items to reduce uru-stambha (thigh stiffness/obstructive heaviness).

It demonstrates the text’s practical medical coverage by cataloging concrete dietary items and their indicated effect (relieving uru-stambha), showing that the Agni Purana functions not only as a mythic Purana but also as a compendium of applied Ayurveda.

By promoting health through disciplined, wholesome diet (pathya), the verse supports dharmic living: maintaining bodily fitness aids ritual practice, daily duties, and purity of conduct, thereby indirectly supporting meritorious action (puṇya) through sustained capacity for worship and righteous work.
