indra uvāca | ubhāvetau na somārhau nāsatyāviti me matiḥ | bhiṣajau devatānāṃ hi karmaṇā tena garhitau
Indra
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: Devī
Scene: Indra speaks with firm authority, declaring the Aśvins unworthy of Soma because they serve as physicians; the assembly reacts with surprise and discomfort.
Status and entitlement can be contested even among gods; dharma requires discerning the true worth of service and role.
Prabhāsa-kṣetra is the narrative setting where this pivotal Soma-right debate is recorded.
The issue concerns Soma-arhatva—who is entitled to receive the Soma-graha within the yajña.
