यम उवाच । अकाले नात्र चायाति कश्चिद्ब्राह्मणसत्तम । मुहूर्तमपि नो जीवेत्पूर्णकालेन वै भुवि
yama uvāca | akāle nātra cāyāti kaścidbrāhmaṇasattama | muhūrtamapi no jīvetpūrṇakālena vai bhuvi
Yama dit : «Ô le meilleur des brāhmanes, nul ne vient ici avant son heure. En vérité, sur la terre, aucun être ne vit ne fût-ce qu’un muhūrta au-delà de l’instant où s’achève pleinement le temps qui lui fut imparti.»
