darvyādisthena no teṣāṃ saṃbandho dṛśyate yataḥ | yaśca śūkaravadbhuṃkte yaśca pāṇitale dvijaḥ | na tadaśnaṃti pitaro yaḥ savācaṃ samaśnute
Skanda (deduced from Prabhāsa-khaṇḍa māhātmya narration style)
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Scene: A brāhmaṇa seated for śrāddha meal, hands composed, eating quietly from a proper plate; to one side, a cautionary vignette of a man eating noisily/messily like a boar and another eating from his palm; above, faint pitṛ figures turning away from the noisy eater.
Śrāddha must be done with restraint and ritual propriety; careless eating and talking makes the offering ineffective for the Pitṛs.
Prabhāsa-kṣetra (Prabhāsatīrtha region), where correct Śrāddha conduct is praised as part of its māhātmya.
Maintain decorum while eating/offering in Śrāddha—avoid improper modes of eating and avoid speaking while consuming the ritual food.
