Skanda Purana — Prabhasa Khanda, Shloka 26

कारण्डवैः प्लवैर्हंसैः कूर्मैर्मंडुभिरेव च । एतैरन्यैश्च कीर्णानि तथान्यैर्जलवा सिभिः

kāraṇḍavaiḥ plavairhaṃsaiḥ kūrmairmaṃḍubhireva ca | etairanyaiśca kīrṇāni tathānyairjalavā sibhiḥ

Elles regorgeaient de canards kāraṇḍava, d’oiseaux plava et de cygnes ; on y voyait aussi des tortues et des grenouilles, ainsi que d’autres êtres vivant dans les eaux, répandus çà et là.
