भावित्वात्कर्मणो देवि दक्षस्याज्ञाव्यतिक्रमात् । समं वर्त्तस्व भार्याभिरित्युक्तः शशलांछनः
bhāvitvātkarmaṇo devi dakṣasyājñāvyatikramāt | samaṃ varttasva bhāryābhirityuktaḥ śaśalāṃchanaḥ
«Ô Devī, par l’accomplissement du karma destiné et pour avoir transgressé l’ordre de Dakṣa, la Lune—celle qui porte la marque du lièvre—reçut cette injonction : “Vis d’égale manière avec tes épouses.”»
