ईश्वर उवाच । किं ते देवि महाशंकाद्योत्पन्ना वरवर्णिनि । ममोपरि न कर्त्तव्या निरुद्विग्ना भव प्रिये । पितुस्तव प्रभावेन लांछनं शशिनोऽभवत्
īśvara uvāca | kiṃ te devi mahāśaṃkādyotpannā varavarṇini | mamopari na karttavyā nirudvignā bhava priye | pitustava prabhāvena lāṃchanaṃ śaśino'bhavat
Īśvara dit : «Ô Devī, toi dont le teint est splendide, pourquoi ce grand doute s’est-il levé en toi ? Ne nourris pas de soupçon contre moi ; sois sans trouble, bien-aimée. Par la puissance de ton père, la Lune en vint à porter cette tache.»
