Type: kshetra
Listener: Ṛṣis and subsequent audience
Scene: A sage-narrator concludes the Candra-māhātmya; listeners sit in a forest āśrama, hands folded, as the words themselves are depicted as luminous syllables dissolving darkness (sins).
Śravaṇa (hearing) and pāṭha (recitation) of a māhātmya are themselves purifying acts that remove pāpa.
The Candra/Soma shrine tradition within the Hāṭakeśvara-kṣetra narrative frame.
Reciting and listening to the Candramāhātmya is recommended as a sin-destroying practice.
