Skanda Purana — Nagara Khanda, Shloka 80

Narrator (contextual Purāṇic narration within Tīrthamāhātmya; exact speaker not stated in excerpt)

Listener: Brāhmaṇa audience (explicitly addressed in adjacent verses)

Scene: The king stands after repeated baths, yet appears dull and burdened; attendants look concerned; the water and ghats are present but the king’s aura is absent—visualizing ‘no increase of tejas’ and persistent heaviness.

FAQs

Without true purification and dharmic effort, negative karmic signs remain—inner radiance does not grow and inertia persists.

The verse is part of the Nāgarakhaṇḍa Tīrthamāhātmya narrative; the specific tīrtha is clarified in the surrounding verses (Camatkārapura-kṣetra context appears immediately after).

No direct prescription here; it describes the lack of transformative results when purification has not yet occurred.
