Type: ghat
Listener: ṛṣis
Scene: A pilgrim at a sacred water-edge performs śrāddha: kuśa-grass seat, piṇḍas on leaf-plates, water-libations; subtle ancestral figures receive offerings with serene satisfaction.
Pitṛ-dharma performed with faith at a sacred site powerfully benefits one’s ancestors.
Agastya’s hermitage tīrtha (the ‘there’ of Adhyāya 33), praised as especially efficacious for śrāddha.
Śrāddha performed properly (samyak) with faith (śraddhā) at the site; it yields Pitṛmedha-like satisfaction to the ancestors.
