Skanda Purana — Nagara Khanda, Shloka 107

yaścaitacchṛṇuyādbhaktyā paṭhedvā dvijasattamāḥ | so'pi taddinajātpāpānmucyate nātra saṃśayaḥ

Scene: A recitation setting: Sūta or a narrator seated on a vyāsāsana, sages listening with folded hands; a subtle aura of purification as the words are heard/recited.

Dvijasattama (sages/brāhmaṇas)

FAQs

Devotional listening and recitation of tīrtha-māhātmya is itself a purifier, not merely the physical journey.

The tīrtha described in the surrounding narrative of Adhyāya 198; the verse extends its merit through śravaṇa/pāṭha.

Śravaṇa (hearing) and pāṭha (recitation) of the account with bhakti, yielding release from sins up to that day.
