Type: kshetra
Scene: The father, composed yet sorrowful, speaks approvingly, placing a reassuring hand gesture toward the son; the mother stands nearby, resolute.
Dharma is upheld through discernment (yukti) and concern for another’s welfare (hita), not merely personal impulse.
The episode is situated within the Nāgarakhaṇḍa’s Tīrthamāhātmya, soon connecting to Vāstupada where guidance is sought.
Prāyaścitta is the underlying theme; the verse focuses on assent to a course of action rather than specifying a new rite.
