Type: kshetra
Listener: dvija-sattamāḥ (frame audience)
Scene: A modest household near a sacred precinct: the husband has spoken; the wife steps into a quiet inner courtyard or grove, hands folded, contemplating; the atmosphere is restrained, devotional, and ethically weighty.
Right counsel aligned with dharma can transform hesitation into willing participation in sacred social duties like kanyā-dāna.
The episode unfolds within the Nāgara Khaṇḍa’s Tīrthamāhātmya stream (Hāṭakeśvara-kṣetra setting), though this verse focuses on the domestic decision.
Kanyā-pradāna (kanyā-dāna) is the central rite being prepared for.
