Devas (addressing the brāhmaṇa-sage Māṇḍavya)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Māṇḍavya Ṛṣi
Scene: Devas urge the brāhmaṇa-ṛṣi to soften the curse by granting favor and shaping a boon; the moment is one of diplomatic sacred speech—hands raised in persuasion, faces earnest.
Even divine justice (Dharma) is approached through humility and proper supplication; grace and boon-seeking are framed within dharma.
The verse occurs within the Nāgara-khaṇḍa Tīrtha-māhātmya context; the immediate passage leads toward the local sacred feature later named Dīrghikā.
A formal act of prayer/boon-request (vara-prārthanā) is prescribed—asking rightly and promptly when instructed by higher beings.
