The Devas
Type: kshetra
Scene: Devas point to pralaya-like omens—waters rising, darkness, trembling earth—asking the lotus-born Brahmā whether untimely destruction is imminent.
Even divine beings interpret extraordinary events through the lens of cosmic law (kāla); dharma includes discerning true causes behind frightening signs.
Not named in this verse; it introduces the crisis that leads the Devas toward Mahādeva’s location in the Anarta region.
None; the verse is a question about time (kāla) and premature destruction.
