तपसा केन चानीतः कया चापि शिवो ह्ययम् । काहं कोऽसौ त्वया ज्ञातो भेदबुद्ध्या ब्रवीषि मे

tapasā kena cānītaḥ kayā cāpi śivo hyayam | kāhaṃ ko'sau tvayā jñāto bhedabuddhyā bravīṣi me

«Par quelle austérité l’aurait-on “amené” ici, et par qui donc ce Śiva pourrait-il être dit “amené” ? Qui suis-je, et qui est-il, pour que tu me parles l’esprit fixé sur la différence ?»
