Śiva (first pāda); narration continues by Sūta (contextual)
Tirtha: Kedāra/Kedārakṣetra
Type: kshetra
Scene: Śiva commands the devas to perform vamanam; Indra and the hosts comply, while sages observe the extraordinary event with astonishment and restraint.
When guided by Īśvara, even difficult acts become instruments of cosmic balance; obedience to dharma restores harmony.
Kedāra is the implied locus where this extraordinary divine event is narrated.
Not a human ritual; it is a divine instruction (ājñā) for the devas to perform a specific act for resolving a cosmic predicament.
