कन्या सदा दुःखकरी नृणां पते स्त्रीणां तथा शोककरी महामते । तस्माद्विमृश्य सुचिरं स्वयमेव बुद्ध्या यथा हितं शैलपते तदुच्यताम्

kanyā sadā duḥkhakarī nṛṇāṃ pate strīṇāṃ tathā śokakarī mahāmate | tasmādvimṛśya suciraṃ svayameva buddhyā yathā hitaṃ śailapate taducyatām

«Une fille, ô seigneur parmi les hommes, est toujours source de peine; et pour les femmes aussi elle devient cause de chagrin, ô grand d’âme. C’est pourquoi, ô maître des montagnes, réfléchis longuement par ton propre discernement, puis dis ce qui est vraiment salutaire.»
