Type: ghat
Listener: Viṣṇu and Brahmā (as addressees in the preceding verse), and the assembled devas/pitṛs (as audience)
Scene: On the steps of Kāpilatīrtha, a householder performs śrāddha: piṇḍas placed on darbha, water offered for tarpaṇa; unseen Pitṛs receive satisfaction; Śiva’s presence is felt as a protective, sanctioning force.
Faithful śrāddha and piṇḍa-offering, performed at the praised tīrtha, directly benefits one’s ancestors—validated by Śiva’s authority.
Kāpilatīrtha in Kāśī, the setting of Śiva’s instruction.
Offer piṇḍas and perform śrāddha-dāna with śraddhā (faith) to secure Pitṛ-saṃtṛpti.
