Listener: (Kāśīkhaṇḍa frame listener, traditionally a sage/assembly)
Scene: A boon-offering moment: a radiant Viśveśvara (Śiva as Lord of Kāśī) addressing the ascetic Īśāna with matted locks; the sacred ford/ghāṭ setting hinted by water, steps, and pilgrims in the background.
Austerity and steadfast effort, when joined to devotion, lead to divine generosity and boon-bestowal.
Kāśī is the narrative field; the boon request will shape the fame and naming of the tīrtha celebrated in this chapter.
No explicit ritual is prescribed; the verse frames the boon-granting moment following intensive worship.
