काशीस्थैः पतितैस्तुल्या न वयं स्वर्गिणः क्वचित् । काश्यां पाताद्भयं नास्ति स्वर्गेपाताद्भयं महत्
kāśīsthaiḥ patitaistulyā na vayaṃ svargiṇaḥ kvacit | kāśyāṃ pātādbhayaṃ nāsti svargepātādbhayaṃ mahat
Nous ne désirons nullement être des habitants du ciel ; mieux vaut être comme ces « déchus » qui demeurent pourtant à Kāśī. À Kāśī, il n’y a pas de crainte de chute, mais au ciel la crainte de retomber (quand le mérite s’épuise) est immense.
