Type: kshetra
Listener: Śaunaka-ādi ṛṣis (frame)
Scene: A morally compromised marriage scene: the man taking a wife with a sense of social rupture; shadowy figures hint at later adultery and deceit.
It condemns social and moral transgression—especially violating marital boundaries—as a marker of adharma leading to downfall.
The chapter belongs to Kāśī’s sacred narrative framework, but this verse itself is a character-description rather than a tīrtha-praise.
No ritual is prescribed here; it is an ethical censure within a purāṇic narrative.
